Meet Cassie

Boston has a new friend...

.....She's such a good playmate...

.........She's always around when he wants her...

...............She goes along with whatever he wants to do...

........................She doesn't swim very well though...

.....................But that's OK, because she LOVES to play in the dirt...

........And they like to go on walks together...

........And they both like to wiggle a lot...

...........Once, he even broke her and she didn't get mad at him...

.................And another day, they stayed in the sun too long...

...........And she got a little dehydrated...

.....So he threw her in the dirt...

............And the next day she was just fine...

What a friend!

The mullet must go!

It's sad when you're only 1 and you already have a white trash mullet!
And you try to get a rockin' fauxhawk style, and it sticks up about 5 inches

So Hudson was very happy to know that his mom could give him his 1st haircut in his very own kitchen
He wiggled and squiggled, but never did cry
And when it was all over, he was the cutest 1 yr old in the whole world!

Fishin on Memorial Day

When you go fishin...

it's always nice to have your Uncle Dan with you to bait the line and unhook the fish, and
it's nice when the fish are little so little hands can hold them, and
it's nice when you're only 7 and he buys you your very own fishing rod and polarized glasses so you have the right equipment, and

it's nice when you can dig up your very own juicy worms from the garden...
but,
it's especially nice when

You give your fish a kiss before you throw him back in!

My cuddle boy gave away my snuggles!

I got to take Boston to see the Easter Bunny the other day. Just the two of us. He is sooooo sweet when he has one on one time. He's my cuddle boy. The only thing is, as soon as he saw that Bunny, I was chopped liver. He ran right up and climbed on the bunny's lap. He got so comfy and snuggled in that I'm pretty sure he would've fallen asleep there if I left him for a few minutes. He's still a little hesitant about the huge bunny coming to our house this weekend.

Caden meets Kyle Korver of the Jazz

On Friday, we went to see the Jazz game, since Caden played Jr. Jazz basketball this year. The boys got a special treat thanks to Uncle Kevin. He just happens to be friends with Kyle Korver, so after the game, Caden and his best friend, Stockton got to have their jerseys signed and meet Kyle. They were pretty excited, and now have something really great for show and tell at school!

My cute chair! I took a yucky cream colored seat cover off and made this much more fabulous bird one. This is just an extra chair we have in our hair studio.

St. George

St. George

After Caden's basketball game on Saturday, we headed down to St. George to spend Valentine's and President's Day. It was our first time seeing Grandma and Grandpa Yeager's home there and we loved it! The only thing that would make it better is if Grandma and Grandpa were there. It is such a beautiful home and community! We took a nice long walk around the neighborhood everyday and enjoyed the weather and scenery. Everyone we met was so nice and wanted to know all about our boys. On Sunday, we went to the Sand Dunes up Snow Canyon and I think the boys were in paradise. On Monday, we went to a nearby pool that was amazing. It had a big spiral waterslide that Caden loved, and a little froggy slide that was a hit with Boston. They had lilly pads with a rope web that Caden ventured to. And, I had a blast on the competition style diving boards. I was surprised that I could still do a lot of the dives and flips I used to do, but I highly doubt they were as pretty as they used to be. Hudson even played in the water with Chris and I. We definantly weren't ready to come home after our vacation to St. George, but luckily we can return often.

Busy week!

I have so much to write about from the past week, so this post is just a shmorgasboard of stuff that we've been up to. On February 8, Caden got to perform at the Tabernacle on Temple Square with an LDS youth choir for a program called Interfaith Musical Tribute to the Human Spirit. We saw performances from Muslims, Jews, Native Americans, Hindu, Catholics, Baptists, Greeks, Scottish Pipe Band (which were so amazing and intense to hear) and many other faiths and Nationalities. It was so interesting to see their traditional songs, dances, and outfits. They didn't want camaras in there, so we followed the rules. To see an article about it with some pictures, click here.
Chris and I took Boston and Hudson to the Discovery Museum on Tuesday for some fun. It's one of our favorite places as you can see.

On Thursday, Chris and I GOT TO GO ON A DATE WITHOUT KIDS! Aunt Emily offered her babysitting services and also gave us tickets to see a play at the Hale Center Theatre. We saw "Cash on Demand" which was a very funny comedy. Aunt Emily not only survived, but she had Caden in bed on time, Hudson asleep and Boston happily occupied! Thanks a ton!

On Friday, while Chris was working in the woodshop, Caden built a tree swing all by himself. He asked Chris to cut a rope, then climbed in the tree, looped in over a branch, climbed down, and tied each end to a stick he found in the woodpile. Pretty clever!

On Saturday, we went to watch Caden play Basketball (and Daddy coach). The boys are so fun to watch and Caden made a basket! He is so good at defense and dribbling too.

Worn out

This is what happens when you play so hard with all of your toys and you're only 7 1/2 months old.

Last minute lovin'

That title got you all excited, huh? Thought you were going to get something juicy didn't you? Nope, not here. Just a last minute recipe for one of the best cakes ever that makes a great Valentine's treat for someone special! Here's how"
Strawberry Meringue Cake
1 package (18.25 oz) yellow cake mix
1 1/3 C. orange juice
4 eggs (separated)
1 1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
1/4 tsp. cream of tarter
1 C. plus 1/4 C. sugar, divided
2 C. whipping cream
2 pints fresh strawberries, divided
In mixing bowl combine dry cake mix, orange juice, egg yolks, and orange peel. Beat on medium speed for 4 minutes. Pour into two greased and floured 9" round baking pans and set aside. in a mixing bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tarter on medium speed until foamy. Gradually beat in 1 C. sugar, 1 Tb at a time, on high until stiff, glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Spread the meringue evenly over cake batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes, or until meringue is lightly browned. Cool in pans on wire racks (meringue will crack). Beat cream until stiff peaks form. Mash 1/2 C. of strawberries with remaining sugar; fold into whipped cream. Loosen edges of cakes from pans with a knife. Using two large spatulas, carefully move one cake to a serving platter, meringue side up. Carefully spread with about 2/3 of the cream mixture. Slice the remaining berries; arrange half over the cream mixture. Repeat layers. Store in the refrigerator. Serves 12-16.

I didn't get pictures until the 2nd day when we had leftovers! So it was a little sloppy by then, but just as yummy!
